To mark the end of the Winter Floodlight tennis season, Gururaj has very kindly offered to cook a Friday night supper based on Mumbai Street Food. The suggestion is that people can gather for drinks from 8.30pm with supper served from 9pm, allowing those who play tennis on Friday nights to enjoy the last Friday night social.
There will be three mildly spiced savoury/vegetarian dishes followed by dessert and ice cream. The menu will include items like Vada Pav (deep fried potato dumpling placed inside a bread bun), Pav Bhaji (thick vegetable curry, fried and served with a soft bread roll), Bhel Puri (made of puffed rice, vegetables and a tangy tamarind sauce) and Gulab Jamoon (a milk-solid-based South Asian sweet). All dishes contain nuts, so unfortunately this won’t be suitable for anyone with a nut allergy.
(If your mouth is watering after reading about these delicious dishes, then spare a thought for your correspondent who has had to type this message out!)
The cost will be £8.50 per person, and Gururaj will be looking for a couple of volunteers to help with setting up tables and also clearing up later. Maximum numbers will be 40 people.
If you’d like to come along, then please do not reply to this message, but contact Gururaj directly at email@example.com or on 07438 059626.
